My journey to becoming a Professional Cloud Architect has been a 360 guide tour of all the services that GCP has to offer.
And I am far, far from done. (~5 hours into a 15 hour course)I've been digging into Policy Architecture.
It allows you to define access control rules, specifying roles, members, and conditions for resource access, either in YAML or JSON format.
Did you know? Most of GCP's core services are PCI-DSS compliant. Because I didn't.
Spanner is a monster (literally):
⇒ Data is replicated across all regions with minimal latency using Google's atomic clock system called TrueTime
⇒ Supports globally consistent reads and distributed transactions across regions ⇒ Automatically manages REPLICATION, SHARDING, and performance optimization
⇒ Provides synchronous data replication across independent zones for fault tolerance
My favorite one to dig into so far: AlloyDB ← a beauty of a service
AlloyDB, a fully managed, PostgreSQL-compatible database service, built for high performance and high scalability in demanding applications. Its key features:
⇒ AI-assisted query insights with smart recommendations
⇒ Up to 100x faster analytical queries with a columnar engine
⇒ Lightning fast vector similarity search for Vertex AI integration (nice!)
⇒ Up to 4x faster transactions and up to 100x faster analytics than standard PostgreSQL (OP!)
I mean, I could keep going. And I will. But for now, I'll go back to continuing my prep!
I hope you learned a thing or two today.
Stay frosty. Stay curious.
